Scott Baker is a co-founder of Fresco Microchip Inc. and serves as Vice President of Engineering and Operations. Prior to Fresco, Mr. Baker served as Vice President, Engineering at Silicon Optix Inc. where he established the concurrent engineering design methodology used to introduce real-time software-programmable video processors to the consumer electronics market. Mr. Baker managed ASIC, COT and software teams located in Canada, Germany and the United States developing algorithms, system-on-chip, embedded software and tools for DSP-based video display products. The methodology and team achieved first-time silicon successes leading to decreased time to revenue and increase return on engineering investment.
From 1992, Mr. Baker held various positions at Genesis Microchip Inc. (NASDAQ: GNSS) until 2002 when he was Director, Product Development. At Genesis, Mr. Baker introduced more than a dozen revenue-generating IC products and helped the management team grow the company from a startup, through a successful IPO in 1998 to over $125M in revenue.
Mr. Baker began his career in 1985 developing ASICs, hardware and software for Litton Systems Canada Ltd., Pure Data Research Ltd., Northern Technologies Ltd. and Navtel Communications Inc. Mr. Baker received his B. Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering (1985) from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the Professional Engineers Ontario.
