Mike Gittings joined Fresco Microchip Inc. in May 2007 and serves as Vice President of Marketing. Prior to Fresco, Mr. Gittings was the director of marketing for AMD’s digital television business unit. At AMD, Mike was responsible for global DTV receiver products. He established ATI (acquired by AMD) as the world’s leading supplier of ATSC integrated HDTV receiver ICs. Mike was a pioneer in home networking, wireless interconnectivity, and cable compatibility in addition to leading strategic activities such as technology evaluation and acquisition, standards establishment, and partnerships.
Mr. Gittings, a founder of NxtWave Communications, served as the marketing and applications executive. NxtWave led the industry in combining high performance digital terrestrial and cable receivers in a single chip device. Mike fostered the partnerships that led to the acquisition of NxtWave by ATI (later acquired by AMD).
Prior to NxtWave, at General Instrument Corporation, he was responsible for a number of innovations and industry firsts; 256QAM digital cable set top, wireless digital set top, single chip upstream digital modulator, and a patent for cable modem technology. From 1983 until 1994, Mike was an innovator of TELCO echo canceling modems, ISDN, Portable Satellite transceivers, and terrestrial receivers at RCA/General Electric. Mike received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers College of Engineering where he graduated with honors.
